Re: Lost Village CTF
It's worse on Urban Siege when the Gazelle is powerful enough to take out tanks (albeit it carries fewer bullets) AND takes two shots to kill, whereas the Little Bird you can take out with a BB. Everything there is true, but the fact it's Urban Siege also means you have no target unless you're line...

Re: Here is a brain scratcher.
This is/was happening to me! I think it has to do with Origin somehow, because it started happening after I installed/uninstalled it. I re-ran a PB update thing that I downloaded from a website. It worked well for a bit. Now it just happens on/off again occasionally. Can't picture any obvious way i...

Re: Trying out a signature image.
Just general signature image information: Noticed today that the signature image in the forum posts allows up to around 632 pixels wide, but the signature image when displayed in PM messages will be truncated around 492 pixels. So better to put important info within the 492 boundary, if you want to ...

Re: Trying out a signature image.
nice signature there trench....whats the Japanese words say? Korean, and it's the noun form of "trench" ("참호"). EDIT: And I picked it just because it involved more visually interesting characters than the Japanese characters for "trench". Not because I know Korean, am ...

참호 = the Korean noun form of "trench", by the way.
I just wanted some Eastern text in there, like a bad tribal tattoo.

First off, where is the MBT? I'm hurt. Looks good a little on the dark side. Helo needs to stand out a tad more Thanks for the feedback. The vision in my head I was attempting to execute is pretty dark too, for what it's worth. But I can definitely see "close to too dark", in that dependi...

Posting these attachments here instead of photobucketing the image. Needs more refinement, but I wanted to at least try it out.

Re: Here is a brain scratcher.
I think it's really strange that he needed to do anything with the regedit if it was a clean wipe, I'm running 64 bit and never had to mess with any of that. Yeah, agreed, none of these shenanigans are "expected" for a 64-bit Windows installation. Any of the normal ways of launching RegED...

Re: PB on 64 bit win 7...
Great, glad its working to where you can play successfully. It does seem a bit strange though, since one of the changes/fixes made in the updated BF1942.EXE provided in Specialist's post is specifically to prevent Origin from having to be run first. And I find that aspect to be successful; i.e. I do...

Re: Here is a brain scratcher.
The processes show "regedit.exe" now, there is no "64" but at least the "32" is gone. Correct, no "64" expected. Now, I do assume this also means you actually /can/ see a "Wow6432Node" subkey under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software in this 64-bit instance...

Re: Here is a brain scratcher.
I redid the steps for the processes it does show the RegEdit 32. I expanded the files and found its running wow32.dll What step are you proposing to get it running 64bit. Okay, that's good, since it at least makes sense for why you don't see a "Wow6432Node" branch in your registry. What m...

Re: Here is a brain scratcher.
Trench, your going to love this one. In processes RegEDIT isn't even listed 32 or 64 how is that possible. System properties does state 64 bit. Its a conundrum. Egg or the chicken. I guess technically I omitted the confirmation of "check Task Manager while you have RegEDIT running and open&quo...

Re: Here is a brain scratcher.
Funny thing, even though my system is a 64bit I had to use the 32bit tree to get into cd key value. Using the 64 bit there is no Wow6432node..etc... Yikes. My first suspicion would be that somehow I'm running the 32-bit RegEDIT.exe every time; i.e. when I think I'm running the default regular 64-bi...

Also this is the cd version I have used for years... At one time I did try the free version months ago. Went to Origin to delete it only to find the Origin will not allow that. The game does show in the library, but its not installed. I will look up Specs link tomorrow and see what goes then. Thank...

Re: PB on 64 bit win 7...
As others have said, there is certianly no fundamental issue between Windows 7 SP1 x64 and Battlefield 1942 or Punkbuster. Have been running many different variations of that same configuration (Punkbuster with Origin, Punkbuster with CD-based, Punkbuster from Origin and then used CD-based Battelfie...

Sarge, I kept looking for you to be connected so that we could verify whether the server showed you with a CD key hash or not. Finally saw you today, but there is a CD key hash shown for your connection. Did you do anything further to resolve this, like switching to an Origin-based install instead o...

Re: Use Origin BF1942 to play on CD version servers: How-to
For what its worth, I think that value actually just changes the angle of view, not camera position. So even though position likely doesn't change, certain things will come into view because the "rendering lens" can see them at a wider angle. I agree that both "field of view" (a...

Re: Use Origin BF1942 to play on CD version servers: How-to
Anyone else running DC on a 16:9 screen care to share the aspect ratio they're using? I did the 1.3333 that this page recommends: http://www.widescreengaming.net/wiki/Battlefield_1942 The "renderer.fieldOfView 1.3" setting doesn't actually change "aspect ratio", specifically. It...
