Re: Not good news for BF

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR CD WITH ORIGIN BEFORE END OF JUNE!!! Have you done it? The link in Capt.Michaels' post doesn't take me into any product registration or activation area that I can find, once I'm successfully logged on with my Origin account ID. If there is a different link you've successfully u...

Re: Not good news for BF

Based on what I've read, in May Gamespy is shutting down, meaning the in-game browser won't work. A hindrance to some, but not the end. In June however, EA is pulling the plug on the master servers, meaning NO multiplayer AT ALL. Thus, truly the end. Yeah, May 31 was the announced GameSpy shutdown ...

Re: Not good news for BF

A bit of bad news, though: Presumably also in relation to future support decisions prompted by the GameSpy shutdown, Battlefield 1942 is no longer available for download in Origin (free or otherwise) . (The "Download" button on this page no longer takes you to an available Origin download ...

Re: Not good news for BF

s[sk] at --=[ aX ]=-- has put together a server which emulates the GameSpy master server . Currently the server just regurgitates a fixed list of servers, although s[sk] says he's working on dynamic registration so that servers can add themselves to the list. (No, EA117's server is not on the hard-...

Re: FIX: Crash in BF1942.EXE when map is loading.

I have never seen my 3770K system crash even once, but my A10 system would crash half the time on startup. I never had to apply the fix to my Intel system either. Thanks for the info. When you say "I never had to apply the fix to my Intel system either", does that mean applying the "...

Re: FIX: Crash in BF1942.EXE when map is loading.

Barrel Roll, if you happen to be reading this, just a follow-up question to the information you gave in-game yesterday. You indicated that you are seeing a crash when Battlefield 1942 starts and/or is loading maps, but that the "Battlefield 1942 FaultTolerantHeap shim v1.zip" provided abov...

Re: Damaged SD card (not physically)

PS. I loooooove my NAS server I certainly love the idea of NAS, but ultimately the performance of the NAS devices I feel like I can afford has always been too underwhelming. Have owned several different LaCie and WesternDigital "consumer oriented" NAS devices, none of which could ultimate...

FIX: Crash in BF1942.EXE when map is loading.

If you are experiencing an issue where BF1942.EXE will crash when loading the initial map or when loading the next map, and simply restarting Battlefield 1942 to try connecting and loading the map again will randomly succeed or crash the same way again, here is a fix you may want to try. This fix is...

Re: Damaged SD card (not physically)

Yes, an external enclosure that supports eSATA typically also supports USB, unless it's a "raw pass-through" enclosure which is simply passing through the eSATA to the SATA connection of the hard drive, without providing any actual "electronics" or additional interfaces in the ex...

Re: Damaged SD card (not physically)

Hopefully your cousin gets it sorted, since that will be faster and more convenient to you. If not, PM me for the address and I'll take a whack at it too. With so many attempts having already failed, I'm becoming less inclined that we won't find the card to be truly damaged. But it should at least b...

I've used PhotoRec (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec) several times with successful results, both for camera cards and standard USB drives. But it ain't friendly. Try looking through the step-by-step and if it seems like something you want to tackle. If you don't like the look of that but don...

Battlefield 4 Premium Digital Download PC Game Add-On $24.98

Battlefield 4 Premium Digital Download PC Game Add-On $24.98 Noticed this on TechBargains today and thought I would pass it along. I don't watch the price, so I don't know if this actually is unusually low or uncommon to see or not. But it seemed lower than what I'd heard references to elsewhere in...

Re: Windows 8 - Classic Menu

I certainly didn't need my desktop experience to change, nor feel like the Windows 8.x are in any way "intuitive" for existing Windows PC users. I see a bit of Microsoft's quandary in that there is almost "no line" between what Windows knows as "a PC" and what is "...

Re: Windows 8 - Classic Menu

I saw 8.1 and I didn't see a start menu. Do you have to turn it on or does patching to 8.1 enable it by default? Yes, there is a "start menu" which is enabled by default for Windows 8.x installations. But it's no longer simply a small list of programs that pops up trying to give you acces...

Re: Roadkilling with Carbombs in Uncap Mains

So, generally speaking, running people over in the process of preparing to detonate is more or less acceptable? Just as long as that is not the only thing you're doing...is circling a base, protected from the death bubble, trying to road kill? I read that a bit differently. Generally speaking, you ...

Re: Signs you have been playing TO much DC or BF3/4

Rather than dealing with issues at work in any intelligent or skillful manner, you stand just outside the conference room door, toss a brick of C4 into the room, and before anyone can react, bunny-hop to complete safety over the ensuing explosion. By that I mean to say C4 tossers are complete pussie...

Does anyone have a clue what this means? I do not know definitively. I know one of GameSpy's services is what we actually had to /block/ on the current Origin-based server so that the Origin-based keys would be hashed correctly. So in that one small aspect, "GameSpy server no longer available&...

Obviously the gear worked better. Cool to see the mechanism shown. Wonder if they also put deflectors on the prop too just for safety? Seeing the plain wooden prop there just made me think "Well I guess you would learn in a hurry if you had even just a round or two with a slow charge / slow fu...

Agree that since the problem seems "rare", if modification is going to be the solution, there are probably more straight-forward modifications that would help rather than "exploding helo". Stingers would be a fair thing to add regardless, and might help prevent helos from success...
