Just going to list a quick how to guide with links for people doing a fresh install of BF42.
These steps will bring you current to all patches for BF, DC (DCF) as well as PB and TS. It's advised, if not mandatory, to Dl and install these in order

1: Full Client Patch 1.6
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... atch;23189

2: Update Patch 1.6-> 1.6B
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... 161b;33702

3: Desert Combat 0.7
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... mbat;23423

3a: Desert Combat Final (NOT Mandatory, but you will want this.. ).
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... load;31620

4: Punk Buster
http://evenbalance.com/index.php?page=s ... bf1942.php

4a: From member Gat who posted this (3/17/2010), it's an update to PB: http://www.tankpanzer.com/downloads/BF4 ... update.exe (be sure to check "Do not create new group" when installing)

After installing the even balance (PB) be sure you UPDATE it (or try to) to ensure you've installed it properly. It's the number one source of headaches for most players.

**EDIT**
FireWire has also hosted all the above files on his server in the event any of the above links are down. You can download them from here: http://justskate.me/bfdc2009/

One more thing, for PB updates - many people go and try to download the htm and dll files. I have never had much luck with that method. Using the utility in this link, I have had 100% success when PB updates were the issue.

Go here to get PBSETUP.exe and instructions on how to use it.

All those links sans the PB one are dead.

I've found all of the needed files and I'm in the process of putting them on my web server for anyone to download.
I'll probably put links here for each file and one big rar file for those starting from scratch. And I'll include directions based on your steps above but I'll be using file names/sizes instead.

I should have all of it uploaded by Friday afternoon (July 24, 2009)

Hmm, the links all work for me FireWire. May have been a connection or internet issue from your location. Again though, everything for me/my location is curently working.

Wow, now their site is back up. I guess they were down for a few days when I needed the files. I found them all from other sources and most ended up as dead links.

I put them up on one of my servers so it's much easier to get and/or another place to get the files.
You can download everything you need here:

Thanks.

Always a good idea to have a few places to get the files.

Not sure what the deal is but this no cd patch will not work for me on the new rig running W7. I let the game install to default directories and the patch goes to C:EAGAMES/BF42 or whatever it is. Are there any other subfolders it should go to?

When I installed it on my old xp system years ago it worked fine.

EDIT:

After thinking about my post, I checked the path again and it did go to the C:EAGAMES/blah blah blah
But it unzipped it to the 64 bit side and not the x84 or whatever the hell it is, I pointed the pathway towards it and it worky worky now. I am grateful to ME for all MY help.

Is the aforementioned still valid for a fresh install of desert combat? I am looking to install on my new PC. Thanks in advance.
