Guys,
I have a server for which I'm trying to find a Firewire card. It's a Dell PowerEdge 2970.
I have two slots on a riser card internally that are PCI-e x4. I bought a card in the past that was a PCI-e x1 but it kept blue screening the server.
Should I be able to use a PCI-e x1 card in a PCI-e x4 slot?
I've been looking around for one that is PCI-e x4 but I must either be looking for snipe or I have my terms all wrong. I found some that are PCI-e x1 that seem to indicate they will work in PCI-e x4 slots but I want to be sure before I buy again - last time I wasn't sure if the hardware was bogus or if I was using incorrect hardware.
Thanks again.
