Poor Sportsmanship

Post by Soylent »

This is something that really irks me. I also admit that I have not ever done this myself. People snaking planed right infront of you. You'll be waiting on the airfield and then someone runs up in front of you dancing around. You think "Here it goes again". Then they grab the plane as soon as it spawns. Worse yet, they drive a vehicle to pass you up or paracheute out of a mig to steal the frog. It seems to be happening more an more and admins don't seem to care about it (or maybe they aren't aware of it?)

If I see it, I kick the person. It annoys me when that happens... If that happens, let the admin know what happened and I'm sure they will take care of it. Remember, admins are players too and we come into the server to enjoy a good game like everybody else and sometimes miss other things that are going on unless we are made aware of it happening.

Sadly, ya it happens...alot... way too many griefers out there, but our mods do a very good job in ensuring fair and fun gameplay.

When I see crap like this going on, I simply be sure to say (in K speak, not L) "hey, NameHere, Don't taxi to aircraft" this way one of the mods will know to watch for this clown(s).

More often than not, the clown doesn't relent and since the admin is now watching out for "him", the offender is generally gone within 5 minutes. Just a matter of being patient :)

Ask babies, he see's me all the time lol.

I hate that. It is about the only time I will TK a guy. I usually follow up with a stern warning not to do it again (hardly ever stops the smacktard from doing it again) Of course I've been kicked by the admins when they see it. One reason I like playing this game with so many regulars is because most of us know to respect the other players and not do that sort of thing.

Well it sure is the pits late at night without admins. WEKA-one snaked a plane from me twice in a row. Totally ignored me. This F'tard should be banned.

it must be a plane thing. i dont fly and i never have a problem with tanks. lately there has been plenty of tanks. i guess that because of the lines at the airfield.

a lot of noobs on here lately. and i think there all flying. last night i got tk so many times by planes. no of these new guys check there mini maps. and i bet thats who is showing you guys no respect at the airfield.

i give sos credit last night. that poor guy got calls all night to kick this one and kick that one. he made a lot of guys stay longer than they should have. i don't blame him. i feel bad for the admins here. how can you play when someone is calling you every few mins to kick someone.

i hope these new guys go back to where they came or learn there place. if you cant fly dont.

Ive noticed there has been an increased level of noobtardness lately. I tend to remember names of players who act stupidly and WEKA is definitely one of them. But on the other hand, noobs are the fresh blood that keeps this game going, without them it would be the same 20 people all the time. main camping with the SA3 has been increasing lately. personally i would like to see one general warning then start giving people 1 day bans. I know the admins are there to play and so I usually dont bring anything up in game unless it's ridiculous, and even then my cries usually fall on deaf admin ears. But i believe that most new players do try to play nice, sometimes they just need some direction from other players. so we should all try to be helpful rather than calling them dumbass noobtards (that's MY job) when they do something stupid. on another note, i wont hesitate to tk someone who stole/is going to steal my plane/vehicle, so watch yo selves...

It took everything in me to not stinger WEKA the second time he did it. I will try to talk to them but when they don't answer it's hard. There are plenty of noobs that play the right way from the beginning. WEKA, and many others like him, have been around awhile and know better.

Just so we're all one the same page - if I see someone retaliating by TKing they will get kicked/banned as well. I will 100% back any of the other admins that do the same. I understand your frustrations, and I appreciate the fact that we're not always online. What I will not do is condone using the same crappy behavior to fix the problem we're trying to correct in the first place.

Don't misunderstand me, this is not an attempt at some kind of public beatdown. I just don't want anyone saying they didn't know my stand from the get-go. Please use us as the method to correct the problem.

I didn't say I was planing on TKing. I understand and agree with what you are saying. I usually just leave the server. This snake-like behavior should be dealt with in the same method as for TKing. I think both are the same level of unacceptable behavior.

Wasn't so much directed at you, Soylent :)
I agree 100%.

Believe me, I've gotten pissed enough that it's a good thing I'm not in the same place as some of these jackholes. What I'm asking people to do (especially regulars) is take the higher road. As much as any admin's presence, YOU are the ones that set the tone of the server and what it is like to play here. If we take it upon ourselves to get even by practicing the same type of foolish behavior then we are implicity endorsing the same from those irrtating mother holes.

Swanny i agree, and its a verrry rare occasion where i tk someone on purpose. In real life if someone walked up to my car, that i had just gotten out of, with the intention of stealing it, they had best be prepared to have a glock 27 pointed at them if they dont back off. Ill admit i rarely cross the line of bad sportsmanship but sometimes vigilante justice is the only kind available. i usually can forgive a new guy, although he will hear what i have to say about it. But sometimes, like the other night, ROK navy was main camping with the sa3 on gazala all game basically, so upon being team switched to blue, i c4ed his camping ass. I cant even remember my last intentional tk before him its been so long. He knows the rules, hes been here long enough to know the rules and if he doesnt he shouldnt be playing such a complex game. He was even warned by 3 different admins multiple times and yet he keeps on keepin' on. When you cant even get off your own runway it gets frustrating beyond belief, especially when you know the person camping knows better. I realize I cant justify my actions all the time but sometimes, not often, you have to fight noob tactics with noob tactics.

I agree with the whole 'it takes a server community to raise a noob' concept and i am more than helpful if someone has a question about the game. Ive even gone far enough to share/show some of my tactics/secrets with new players. Overall, i believe the server has an excellent atmosphere that welcomes new and veteran players with emphasis on fun and meeting people (and then killing them, of course). I think that is one of the reasons it is full every night with both regulars and new players.

Wow Babies, not that I particularly enjoy playing with ROK_Navy... but his scores are ussually so high I'm surprised he finds the need or desire to main camp... that is a bummer.

Lets brighten the mood...

for me, there is nothing better in game than to find some random person who uses teamwork (selflessly or otherwise) to help ensure victory.

Those guys who follow tanks repairing them and never earning a point.

The F14 pilots who are simply bomber pilots allowing their bombardier to rack up kills

BH pilots
Sea King pilots
Flag "Guards" who sit by a that is vidal to ensure it doesn't get capped.

there are not as many of these game savers out there, but I remember their names far more than I remember the smacktards..

and to them, I tip my grateful hat.

I consider myself a team player and get satisfaction out of helping my team win even if i get a minus score (omaha in particular). Nothing better than hearing a team mate call for help and rolling in with a frog and taking out a column of tanks that were sure to overrun the flag. Its nice to know other players can rely on you for help and vise versa. Other players who use such team work, i often add them to my buddy list so i can see where they are in game and usually give priority to helping them. Without the instant communication of team speak, situational awareness is the best substitute. If i can get 30 kills and help my team, well thats great. if i help my team and get -4, great as well. Nothing worse than someone flying around in the frog not helping as 5 tanks approach as u frantically call for help, knowing none will ever come...

i cant tell you how many times i call for help trying to hold a flag grey with tanks there. on gazala last night we had 2 of the 3 flags and i had that 3rd flag grey with 2 tanks there. my whole team stopped near the middle flag and never got there to help me. when i see a grey flag i run there like i am on fire. its better to help that person kill 1 or 2 people than lose the flag and deal with 10 guys.

i am not good, but i get good scores because i am aggressive. thats why i die so much. but who cares about that its just a game. winning is most important and taking flag is how you do that.

hey mojoryder maybe ROK navy has high scores BECAUSE he is camping. maybe more than we know.

rok navy is a useless tard that camps consistently and i've personally never seen him get a good score, i think his play is weak, but maybe thats just me. and i agree with mojo about the selfless acts in game, i love a good ac130 pilot on gazala and the random healers/repairers.

Well, if we turn FF off, there is whole bunch of new problems that come - people being irritating by disrupting play and never getting kicked for it, C4ing themselves on top of buildings, a bunch of stuff. In other words:

*Can - opened. Worms - EVERYWHERE.*

What I do appreciate is the ideas, coming up with creative solutions to irritants in-game.

With FF off can't you shell a location, that has both your players and the opposing team, and only kill the opposing team players? That would reduce the skill level and realism imo. Or is that not the way that server setting works?

yes, only the other team's players would be hurt or killed in that situation. No skill would be required in that situation, just shoot blindly at some part of the map and hope to hit the other team since you wouldn't have to worry about killing your own guys.
