With the Battlefield 1 trailer out, I took some time to reminisce....
In late 2003 I was shopping in my on-base exchange (the military's version of walmart). I was in the computer game section and remembered there was a massive online WWII game that had supposedly come out where everyone was in one big map ("WWII Online"). I forgot the name. So I saw BF1942 and said "this must be it".
Went home, installed it, played, then realized it was just a shooter game, not what I thought it was.
Went back, found and bought WWII Online. Installed and tried to play for an hour before giving up. I hear the company went bankrupt, no surprise there. What a POS.
Over the next couple weeks I continued to play BF1942 and grew to like it. A buddy of mine said - check out "DC Mod" - A10's and shit! Needless to say, the rest is history.
All because of a mistaken purchase.....
A fortunate accident
