Any Vehicle coders around?

Post by MOJORyder »

Making a new map.. kinda an objective map where I need to recode the gas trucks to be able to take substantial damage.

the idea here is there are three objective gas trucks in a US convoy of tanks, bradleys and hummers and a support/repair BH.

Iraqi's will have only pick-ups and won't be bound to the paved roads as the US team is, basic insurgent attacking convoy type of deal, US objective is to get to & cap red main with 1 of the three fuel trucks intact.

Anyone help in this?

Torch-1 has done all types of coding/modding for DC and 42 for years. He's modded the fuel tanker to blow up like a scud on Oil Fields. That often brings out a few WTFs:) You can PM him on our forum if you are interested.

Hey MOJORyder

I know how to do it and in fact I just did it it's only a few text files I just couldn't find a way to send them to you I was looking for an upload site but they all want me to sign up...I'm kinda late for a B-Day party. Anyway I sent you my email in a PM I can help you get this working in no time tomorrow. By the way I hope you know how to extract and compact an .rfa file right ?

Ok I emailed you all the text files you need to make this work and I already modded it to be 4x stronger but you can make it more.

Here is how you will make it stronger

When you extract "yourmapname.rfa" browse to the folder "yourmapname" and inside it there should be an "objects" folder (if not then we will have to make one) then place the folder "UralTanker" that I sent you inside the objects folder. Now open the "Objects.con" and add the line "run UralTanker/UralTanker"

Then Open the "UralTanker" folder and open the second "Objects.con" this one should look like this

Image

The red arrow points to the radius of the blast if you want to make it more like what a real tanker would blow up like. (Default is 25 the one I sent you I made 50)
The Blue arrows point to how strong the Ural Tanker is (Default is 60 the one I sent you is at 240 [x4]) It's been so long that I have forgotten what maxhitpoints does compared to just hit points but I would just keep them the same number. if you make one 5000 then make the other 5000, but you can play around with it. I don't think I have time.

Tell me if any of that is confusing and I will help you out... PS I can get on teamspeak and walk you through any of it.

enjoy

thats fantastic buddy, much appreciatted.

I may increase it (since they need to survive a long, slow drive though enemy territory) to perhaps 500 and play with it a bit..see how much a stick of c4 will do... etc.

I may be back to get further questions answered for this map.. this is one i've been thinking about for a while to essentially force team work by at least one team (blue)..hopefully it will be good.. too bad theres not many playing bf42 or dc anymore though :(

same here.. I've been playing this for more years than I'd like to admit.. but I honestly hope there are many years left in it :)

BF2 just didn't have that immersive, full scale global war feel that '42 has.. 2 is more like rainbow 6.. fast reaction assualt forces competing..

Heres a tutorial on how to use winRFA to open your map and place the custom stuff in it.
http://www.cajunwolf.com/WinRFAtut.html

and here is a download link of the MOD toolkit, included in the package is the program winRFA
http://www.fileplanet.com/144440/140000 ... olkit-v2.5

basically you need to extract your map and then add the files I emailed you then pack your map back up, I suggest you make a backup in case you mess up.

i would look at the material too.. some vehicles damage from the ground..
so maybe looking at stronger armor from other vehicles or ever ships might give U the duribilty your looking for.
i used to like too make super Humvees with miniguns ..... fast & strong ;)

after a few bongs and some thought...
look into the old Tanelorn mods ... he thought me alot about making many vehicles out of 1
deployable stuff.... vehicle spawning weapons kits ,miniGuns & TOW_Launcher ect.
so U don't have too add more unnessery bulk too your map...standard mesh's & DDs texture files add up quick..
if U look at his mods you'll see how small they are in comparasion too other mods.... tutor. are fine but this guys stuff
will bring U up too speed ....
