Taking a break but will show for Moon-night

Hey all,
I discovered recently that I don't actually have spinal-neck problems (good thing I had that surgery..) but actually have tendinosis in my arms and shoulders, which is a chronic tendon injury where the tendons get injured and re-injured from repetitive strain so they start to break down into scar tissue. This most likely started because of excessive DC playing (and working in a call center, and writing a book, so like 12+ hours on CPU a day.) Working on a farm only made stuff worse.

The good news is, tendon problems are more straightforward than spine problems, and I pretty much just need to stop re-injurying my tendons and build them up by doing actually muscle-y stuff as opposed to just clicking, mousing, and jerking. If you think you might be suffering from anything in arms/hands/neck/back from gaming, an excellent resource is https://esportshealthcare.com/common-vi ... -injuries/. It's a site run by a chiropractor that specializes in gaming injuries and he gives you all the info to treat yourself right on the site. I'm also starting to do some muscle-building weightlifting to build up the muscles that gaming to complement the ones that gaming overuses. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm psyched to get my body finally working again.

In the meantime, I'll be laying off DC almost entirely cold-turkey so my arms can heal. I will join up for moon night though...and maybe I'll log on every once in a while just to vote al nas and then log off again ;)

I was wondering what it would take to get rid of you! ;)

You sound like you've got a solid plan to get back in shape Blink. Your job isn't exclusive to the issue, it is a matter of spending too much time in one position period.
I had a buddy who did 10 hour shifts overnight at a hotel front desk years ago. After a few years of standing still for 10 hours, then vegging on his couch until bedtime, he lost so much muscle in his lower back that he got to a point where it hurt to move. He too had to start a minor workout routine.
I don't know if your work would allow it or not, but up here "microbreaks" for people with desk jobs is becoming a big thing. Take 5 every hour or so to get up and move around, maybe bring your weights.
I hope you spring back soon!

Thanks Hairy. I'll be thinking of you all when I'm breathing hard, with my shirt off, pumping iron. Wait 'till I come back and give it to you up the Nas!

Thanks for your openness in sharing. Wish you a full recovery. I advise getting a sharp physical therapist who specialists in upper extremity issues. Know that you are not alone in this server in struggling with repetitive stress injuries (RSIs) -- I can think of a few fellow EA117 gamers who have faced issues in that category over the years. I particularly empathize as it is the primary reason why I have had to cut back my own time on this server in the past year, which has been a major bummer. Stay emotionally strong, follow the prescribed physical therapy regimen, and we hope to see you back once you are well on the road to recovery.

Or you could just play through the pain you pussy - just kidding of course. And like I can talk - since I repeatedly leave the game suddenly due to the tumor, or falling out of the wheelchair or just having a massive phantom pain wave. Not to mention the destroyed shoulders when I was an All-American swimmer in H.S and college. - For Jolly: 20+ dislocations before they operated on the left. I reset every one myself, which compounded the problem. But then again, who of us had any brains during our teens and twenties LOL. Thank god I turn 60 this year.

Otto,

It bums me out to hear how old you guys are. I just mentioned to spin the other night that it saddens me a bit that the last of the regular 1942 and DC players are over the hill!

National Crank Addicts Anonymous? Is that how you're so fast in DC?

I'm doing this program...don't laugh:
https://bonytobeastly.com/

Hardest part is eating ~3000 calories a day. Never knew a protein shake basically tastes like vanilla barf.
