DC realism

Post by Demonic »

i remember Spec, Aids and myself messed with this mod many years ago, and i actually forgot about until the other day.........im not sure if its 100% completed, because there are a few things that arent quite right (like American voice overs in the T 72 while your playing the Iraqi side :O )

anyways, i put a small vid together to give a very quick look at it.......even if the mod isnt worth trying , perhaps there is a way to bring some of the other kewl toys it has to offer, into some maps....just another idea to keep things kickin in here ;)

http://www.viddler.com/v/b45f638

what i do like asbout it though are things like, the C4 satchels are self timed, so they go off on their own, which would stop C4 campers.......the A 10 gun over heats real quick, so you have to use to it in short burts, as apposed to lengthy firing...... there are more guns to choose from......a couple of new vehicles and some other kewl things.....

the problems is generally the lack of some peps not wanting to or failing to use downloads correctly that has been a prob all along its too bad really there is alot of really cool new stuff even some bf2 maps for dc but word of warning they do require more cpu power,,

ya i agree rye...some peeps arent keen to try new things out...i would really love to see that suicide bomber guy be somehow modded into some maps >: D its funny enough to see people panic when a carbomb is heading their way...but this dude could be way more sneaky muhahahahahaha (i have visions of him stowing away on blues spawn helo....then seeing the helo explode midair )

also the c4 satchels...i know people hate snipers (so do i...the camping ones that is) but i hate c4 campers....sooo by having them with a timer, people would need to be more careful......

i messed around on Boonies dustbowl modded map to, and forgot about the other helos you can have.....the Havoc helo is the same class as the Apache, so it might add more enjoyment on red, than being stuck with the fattass hind...also, the Cobra and the Hokum helos would add some extra excitment like on Bocage, or bigger maps...

i wish boonie was still around, coz i would love to have his files for making maps etc....i only have the very basic stuff to work with when i try (yah i said try lol ) and make maps.....

I love Boons Dustbowl - those helo's I love - and he took that big-ass hind and added guns on the sides for 2 extra shooters which IMO made it pretty dangerous...

The exploding guy would be fun too :D :D

I know that the coop, tdm and some ctf maps are not stable but conquest looks for work okay.

Anyways..

I set up a server that is running the DCR mod for those of you interested in checking it out.

You will need to install the mod so head on over to our Downloads section and download the DCR Final mod and follow the install steps.

Server info:
  • Name: DCR Maps [CD 1.61/Origin 1.612]
    Server IP: 98.165.230.58:14567
Map vote is ENABLED and all DCR Maps are on rotation

You will be able to join the server, even if it's blacked out for you.

This server is set up to accept both the CD and Origin 1942 versions. If you try to connect using the Origin version you will need to install the DC, DCF and DCR mods.

For a guide on how to install the mods, check out this thread - Use Origin BF1942 to play on CD version servers: How-to.
How to install Mods on Origin version.
  • 1. Download the mods from our download section.
    2. When the installers ask you where to install, make sure you select the Battlefield 1942 directory inside Origin Games and install as normal from there.
For most people this will be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942
It can be different if you installed Origin somewhere else or you have a 32-bit OS.
MAKE SURE YOU STILL RUN BF192/DC/DCFinal IN WINXP COMPATIBILITY MODE AND RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
I'll keep the server up for a few days.
