I honestly hate that version. IMHO, the armor ruins that map at least the CTF version.

Armor always has your back. It the first thing you want to see, and it has your back when leaving. We stay for the duration.

Back to some degree of serious...from what I've seen, it's the map rotation driving many away. Example. I LOVE Bocage day 2, but CONSISTENTLY half or more players drop out switching from Al Nas. I don't know if it's that they're missing the maps or just don't like it, but my suggestion is to change the rotation...OFTEN. I believe that will keep the interest level up.

FWIW, I agree w/Path. Changing the rotation often will keep interest up.

Trench's birthday night was a lot of fun when Pin (I think) was letting Trench pick maps.

I personally miss Bridge and Rivers and I hope that these make it back some day.

The maps I see that seem to clear the server out consistently are: Aberdeen and NFZ. I personally like NFZ (D2) and think it is fun but I have seen dozens of players bail when it comes up.

They're all good...even that Gulf War map...Coastal hammer.

Any way to have a different rotation even/odd days, or maybe weekends?

I'm up for that.

Maybe get rid of:
Wake
Bocage
NFZ

Replace with:
Coastal
Bridge
Bragg

Does the server keep any kind of record of # of players on maps?

Perhaps a cursory review of which maps have the most across consistent times in the evening will show what truly are "Fan Favorites."

It has to do with the age of the game, maps, and the general memberbase of the game.
Young kids are attracted to the new and more "impressive" games such as, BF4, COD, etc..
What they don't realize that the gameplay of older games, (like bf42) has excellent gameplay.
New games = All about graphics
Older games = Gameplay
That's my personal opinion.

Ofcourse you can spice up the rotations, but I think it would have a very little impact. The game is old, the ones stickin' with it are old. (no ofense intended).

I am also part of the Moongamers community as Senior Admin, and through that position; I have launched several projects, which is currently under development.

1. Release a series of "Handbooks", that in depth explains each weapon, damage, range, viecles, map, strategy, tactics etc.
2. CO42 (Class Of 42). A basic school of education. Some of the best we could find in the 42 community will teach classes of their individual expertise, Air, Ground, Arty, Infantry etc.

The hope is to gather more people, teach them, improve the overall gameplay, competition, and finally increasing the memberbase. Especially with origin in the picture, there is a real chance of achieving this.

Ofcourse with an increased memberbase in 42, there is a chance of the same in DC. Some are likely to look for mods, or new interesting ways of playing the game. That's where we come in.

Something simliar could be done with DC.. Just an idea..

But no, it will never be the same as 5 or 8 years ago. Time has moved on, and so have alot of the players.

I have tried playing BF2, BF3 and BF4. It bores me, it's idiot proof. Anybody can jump into a plane or helo these days, and fly it fairly. The games of these series are impressive with their new functions, achievements, graphcis and supported battlelogs. But to me, the gameplay of 42 and mod DC is unique and outstanding. It's not about stats, medals, or a billion functions. It's easy to get into, basic, fun, and more skillbased from my point of perspective. You have to practice, practice and practice to get better. Not unlock features or add ons.

I knew a few guys in TLB, that practiced a certain thing for years. They finally mastered it, and their skills came to light in the games at night. It was a pleasure to witness that development in a player.

If anyone wants my copy of BF3, just holla.

Opus - I can see the Server status page, but all I see to be able to analyze are player stats. Are there map stats on there as well?

Or are you saying to just observe the number of people playing on particular maps? Which I sort of already do...but not methodically or anything.

Agreed Op, other than I have never played BF3 or 4.

As for the rotation, once it is set, there is no way to set a timer if you will for weekdays vs weekends. It is all manual. That being said if there is a map you wish to play, let an admin know.

Remember too, most of us "know" each other. We know how to push each others buttons and what not. If we have new people come in, don't give them a ration of crap and expect them to stay. I fully support videos, tutorials, etc like Opus is talking about to help new people enjoy the game.

I'd be glad to make a video or two.

What is my expertise?

- A Idiots Guide to Getting Banned (And how to avoid it on EA117)
- Shotguns
- How to fly the C130 over a target in a perfect circle
- SA3 vs. Frog/A10: The Tactics and Psychology (actually, Barrell Roll should do this one)
- Armor - Bradley/BMP (how to make a stand against tanks)

depending on the time of day.....anything after al nas will suffer.....

I cant remember if the stats include what map you play on the most.....

they give time of day traffic, but then people play when they have time....so you wont get an accurate reading about what maps people like the most, unless they post in the forum...

21st had their own stats program that you could look at a player and see the maps played....but that probably not around anymore.

I like them all, sorta...
aberdeen can go, wake isnt all that fun either, same with iwo, and omaha.

everynow and then.........

1.1 millionth time.....lmao......I still think if you had both helos on each side of bocage.....without them being flag dependant (it hurts red team bad)......Or, make another helo map.

put the air flag on the ground and get rid of those transport helos. If it doesnt have guns.....its no fun :D :D, that woud be of a blessing for ground guys cuz the helos and planes would have to cum low and BOOM...rpg/smaw....

reverse order...swap gazala for bocage...

Why is buldge hated so bad?
nfz would be better if it was ctf?

theres enough infantry/graound maps in rotation.......a couple flying ones are appreciated.

ty.
