map questions

Post by Thonger » April 26th, 2016, 10:41 pm

Ahem, so I am playing again.
Mostly when the server is emptying out or has a low pop.

I want to do a bit of a poll here, just to collect some data.

Suppose you're on the server with about 15-16 players, and nearing the end of a great map. The next map is going to start, all admins have logged off at the end of the last map, and people are leaving because it's getting late but there's still a small group left, that might stay on if the map is decent.

What are your top 5 worst maps to come next, in no particular order? No explanations needed, just name the maps. Also, specify if the map is CQ or CTF.

Not that anyone would care about my opinion - but I agree with this. Al nas is the worst and is my most hated. If we didn't do so much CTF and had a better balance between that and CQ then maybe I would like that one more - but that one is waaay overplayed and way too favorable for red.

Berlin is too favorable to Red. Al Nas is pretty well balanced, although its easier for red to camp blue main than for blue to camp red main. But it seems more like 60/40 where red has an advantage.

I'd give Berlin CTF a 85/15 advantage to Red. So rare for Blue to break out of back alley and be able to actually threaten Red main consistently.

That said, maps I loathe with very few people on is really anything without lots of helicopters or jets. I pretty much check out if there aren't more than enough for a decent game and just start buzzing stuff. ;P

Maps that are buzzkill to me with very few on are:

Urban Siege CQ
Basrah's Edge CQ or CTF
Weapon Bunkers CQ

I dunno. Looking at lists of maps, it's really anything. When there are less than 10 people, it's just not the same game.

WTF - this is the complete opposite of what I would have said. I would only stay for maybe those 3 maps above.

Any huge maps with 15 people, and I would leave. Or like Omaha, DesertShield, Insahallah, and others need at least 20 to be really playable.

Agreed. With only a few people on the server the worst possible map would be anything huge. For example, if you had a handful of people left on the server (end of the night) and the map changed to say, guadalcanal, the server would be empty within 5-10 minutes.

If only they could execute "enableMapVote 1" before logging off... but that would leave room for people to behave like monkeys the next day :(

Tough to name least favorites. When there are very few on - only a couple of things keep me around.

1) Simple single objective CTF maps like:

Berlin CTF
Bocage Day 2 CTF
El Alamein CTF

2) Air heavy maps: (to just mess around in jets and helicopters on)

Gazala CQ
El Alamein CQ
Twin Rivers CQ
No Fly Zone CQ
Guadalcanal CQ

Buzzkill maps to me would be: (with less than 10 on)

Urban Siege CQ
Battle of 73rd Easting CQ
Weapon Bunkers CQ
