BF3 Forum

Post by Specialist »

All,

With BF3 coming out within the next few months, I'm sure there is going to be some discussion about it so I made us a forum where we can discuss BF3 all we want.

I posted this today on the EA BF3 website

"Back in 2005, Battlefield 2 was one of the first shooters to introduce a deep persistence system to add that extra layer of tasty rewards and unlocks to keep players returning to the battlefield for hundreds of hours."

And..many would say this feature is the fundamental flaw in the game for those who can't game 24/7. If you slip a few weeks, let alone a few months, in game play, the rest of the world has left you in the dust and has unlocked superior weapons. This makes gameplay unfair for the more-casual player (read:the rest of us). I quit playing BF2 a few years back because of this growing disparity, and returned to BF1942.

I can see that there is huge interest in this feature for cutting-edge gamers. I've also heard rumors about $unlocks$. For the rest of us, I would like there to be an option to choose only servers where everyone has the same capability *period*, and the best shooters, not the best -armed will then win out. I would ALWAYS be interested in such a server. I'd bet many others would, too. I think of it as a "no advantage" server. This plays like a "no cheat" server.

I'd ask that EA take on development of this kind to have servers such as I'm describing pre-defined and easily applied when BF3 ships (making it an "option" that doesn't require custom map builds). I won't be buying BF3 until I see a trend in this direction.

A lot of games get around this by automatching players with other players of their caliber. The problem with this is you don't necessarily get to choose who you play with.

Surely there is a way to set up a server to where you can only use certain weaponry(upgraded or not) whether you have been upgraded ... .or not lolol (sry I watched Austin Powers Gold Member last night and that reminded me of a part in the movie.

This is gonna suck if not for people like me who can not play ALL the time trying to upgrade much less spend MORE money on the game. Spec they are making me nervous

Sure, you can setup a custom server and define the kits. The problem is..without "direct" support for this in the game (some kind of global in-game indicator, perhaps a special server icon) you won't be able to find said server in the server list. I'm suggesting a "no unlocks allowed on this map" indicator, and more importantly some pre-defined maps of this nature that can be put in rotation developed by EA and released with the game..THAT would entice me to buy it..and..just maybe keep the tards off the server..

Make some noise on the EA site, guys...everybodys SO drooling for this next release somebody needs to set these guys straight...they ain't going to just roll over because I told them off..like you guys do.. ;-)

I gotchya Path. I never played BF2 so I didn't know how that worked but you and I have talked on TS and you convinced me it sucks. I don't mind getting my ass whooped but I would prefer a level playing field.
