Here I come.

Download of BF3 Premium Edition has commenced. I was going to get the basic version for $10, but for $20, it looks like I'm getting all the frills and expansion packs.

Whew...20GB. 2hrs to go on the download.

Nice.

I'll be on later today and we can do some of the co-op missions together if you want.

Good thinking Spec. That's a great way to get accustomed to the controls/gameplay/etc. I too Haven would be happy to do some co-op missions with you as well. Just gotta be on TS for the comms :) I'll be home from work around 6-7pm EST.

Interesting. How do we find each other to do co-op?

Haha, I joined a couple of servers last night. I actually got some kills. So funny being a noob. Like a fresh baby in the world.

Add us as friends on Battlelog and then you'll be able to set up a co-op mission with us.

Really fun game. Gotta admit though that the flying is still growing on me. Definitely different compared to DC. DC seems a lot more controllable. BF3 is both slightly more realistic (in that you can't do crazy turns quite as much) but also seemingly more fake in terms of how slow you can go and some of the physics.

Helis aren't quite a controllable either. Different physics, but a heck of a lot more fun to be the gunner.

Graphics are just way way better. (duh) Sound design is amazing. I haven't played enough to really figure it out, but it seems better compared to the barren flatness of a lot of the DC maps...much more vegetation to hide in in BF3.

It'll be interesting once I get up to speed and figure out maps and tactics, etc...it seems like a really nice game.

Maybe the most fun is when a clear battle line is formed on a map where there is an uncap spawn and then flags behind another team defending them. The spawning team is clearly in one spot, the defenders spread out along like a net to contain them from getting flags and it is just full on firefight all along the line. The sounds of 64 players all shooting and being able to run around and set up a m249 and just open up for the heck of it. Bwahahaha. Awesome.

Holy crap...the flying is different. I feel like BF3 warps time and space. In DC, stuff is all where it is. Your jet is where it is in space and as you fly, it moves at that speed through 3D space toward other aircraft, etc...at least that is how it feels. In BF3, a Jet was flying straight at my heli and it felt like slow motion. Weird.
