Okay, but why should we unban? You knew what you were doing, you knew the server doesn't allow exploits that made your tag invisible to the other team, you could see that the whole server was up in arms about the fact you were doing it, yet none of that made you stop. Only us stopping you made you stop.

Why should the ban be shorter than a month for that kind of exploit and willful indifference to the rules, or even just basic sense of fair play?

Hi Trench, this is Wildcard.

With regard to the above referenced matter I believe my IP address suffered a ban as Dogma and I were playing from the same location. I have reviewed the rules and fail to see any rule pertaining to a player playing under an alias. I would not have known that there were any cause for concern with Dogma playing in this fashion nor would I have believed my IP address would be subject to any other players conduct.

I apologize to any players that this may have caused confusion to but am unable to see any fairness in a ban for it. Dogma was kicked from the game and I was allowed to continue with play until the map ended. I have found in my brief experience playing on EA the Admins to be most gracious and more than fair to me. The ban of Dogma for playing under an alias comes as quite a shock to me. The fact that my IP address and I are subject to this ban is ludicrous to say the least.

I am not a very skillful player and am sure I won't be missed however I do enjoy playing the game and hope to get better in time. Kindly reconsider this action and be assured I will take heed in the future to the conduct of any players playing from my home.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely
Wildcard

I very much enjoy EA 117 and like wildcard I do think the admins do a good job at keeping the game fair.

In retrospect and in consideration of my fellow players I can understand how I may caused a frustration that day. I hit the space bar once and used that for my alias, as you can see in the picture my tags were still visible to other players. I do think that any ban for this is excessive, I was kicked and before realizing I was banned the point was taken, I knew I wasn't being appreciated. I didn't intend any malice nor benefit, it was just a thing.

I learn a lot from the players on this server and have become a more advanced player because of them. I diligently adhere to and respect the rules of the game and quite honestly did not feel as though I were violating any of the rules. I appreciate this matter being brought to my attention so that I can refrain from any faux pas in the future.

The ban is certainly not a reflection of anything like "there has been a long-term problem." Myself included, everyone I can think of enjoys having you play here on EA117, too. You've been a part of this community for a long time.

I appreciate you posting the screen shot. I was actually at work at the time, and couldn't be in-game to see first-hand. Screen shots were taken, but that just shows what your screen looks like, not what you look like to other players. Through the admin interfaces the name just showed as blank in some places, and as a single underscore character in others. That coincided with what the players were describing in chat, and I saw from the address and CD key "it's a long-time player who should know better than to make their tag invisible", and so I took action in response to all the requests for admin action that were happening in chat.

That the blank tag is not allowed to show as /literally/ blank for the purposes of the in-game player display indeed makes a significant difference. It makes a difference with regard to intention; meaning it was making identification "hard" like a very short name or thin characters would, but not "impossible." I was wrong to take as strong an action as I did for this case. Had I dealt with this before or known there were still characters showing above your player, it would have been more appropriate to simply request that you change your name so that it showed in the scoreboard too.

I apologize for my over-reaction in this case, and the ban is removed. Please do use a non-blank player name in the future, but I don't expect that's really going to be a problem. See you in game.
