Yeah, that's what will likely happen by not doing step 1 and/or step 2 from "What do I need to do?" shown above. I'll add a section to the description that tries to cover potentially seeing this result.

This all could have been made much easier and straight-forward by the Battlefield 1942 game, but they weren't thinking in those terms back in 2002 apparently. The fact that the "Multiplayer" server list entries only work by IP address rather than DNS names makes it a bit awkward when a server intends to change its IP addresses without also changing its server name.
