EA117.com Web Site Maintenance August 21, 2018

Post by Trench »

The EA117.com web site (and ea117dcfanfavorites.com)
will be offline starting August 21, 2018
in order to perform some required maintenance.

This will have no effect on the DesertCombat game server or the TeamSpeak server. Those servers will remain running and accessible even while the web site is under maintenance.

If all goes well, the web site will be back online that same day, within twenty-four hours. If we encounter any challenges that require restarting the process, the maintenance window could extend into the next day if necessary.

Once the maintenance and updates are finished, the site will be available again and everyone's existing logins and information will still be available. Other than perhaps having to use your password to login again to re-establish the "Log me on automatically each visit" setting, no new action will be required.
The maintenance and updates intend to restore the reCaptcha capability for registration and password recovery, as well as other updates and fixes to the site functionality.

      I knew it.

HRD is staging a coup and enacting his mater plan: "EA 117 HRD Favorite: DC First Light CTF 24/7 server"

The maintenance is finished now, and you might notice a few visual changes to the site.

But we expect all the functionality is still there, so if you're seeing something that looks wrong, or you can't figure out where a previous function still exists, let us know the details by replying here (or privately if necessary) and we'll make sure everything is working as expected.

      Have fun!

The "ts3server://ts.ea117.com:9176" link for launching the TeamSpeak client is broken, in that it just displays literally this text instead of a "clickable" link. Currently looking into that.

      EDIT: Fixed now.

      Thanks for your work Trench.
I think it looks just fine and I hate change.

Issue: Even though you have "Email" selected as a notification type for "Someone sends you a private message" in your User Control Panel's Notification Options page, you are not receiving an email notification when there is a new PM in your inbox. Email still works in all other cases, but not specifically in the "notify me that a new PM has arrived" case. This is currently being investigated.

Fixed. The new email service's spam filter was rejecting the static "New private message received" subject line for emails. Worked around this by adding the EA117 site name to the subject line, which arguably would have been useful to have in there anyway.
