IMPORTANT - MOVING TO NEW HOSTING SERVICE

Post by Swanny-CG »

All,

After years and years of our current setup, it's time to move to a new hosting service and server. We chose gameservers and will be running out of Dallas, Texas (better for some maybe, not as good for others).

We are currently porting all of our old stuff to the new, linux-based platform. as a result, you *might* see two "EA 117s" listed in the server browser. We won't be taking down the old one until the new one is ready, and we won't be running the new one 24/7 until we're happy with the config (we need to get punksbusted streaming and pb in general all "configurized"). We expect to go permanently live in about two weeks.

The new server info is: 8.12.64.130 and we will be switching over on April 25th, 2009.

Feel free to check it out and bookmark it when it shows up in the server browser - go ahead and check it out!

Note: I'm removing the previously set password so we can register for stats tracking with bftacks.net.

Jason-I checked out the new server this morning. My ping is typically 90-100 to San Jose. I had a 65 ping on the new Dallas server, so reduced by about 1/3. Not bad. Thanks.

Yeah well I'm going from 0 or 1 to the mid-60s. Too sad for me. I'm actually interested in seeing if there are any changes for me, especially flying helos. Chances are I'll suck even worse but I'm hopeful :)

The new server is awesome. Thank you so much for switching. My ping used to be around 70 all the time then for some reason went to 90 a few months ago and now seems to stay around 109. My ping on the new server was averaging around 40! I love it!!!!!

Heya Swanny,
My ping has gone from 33 to about 65 on the new server. I guess I'm moving to Dallas now :).
Cork sucking bastages, farging iceholes, uhhhhhh, sorry, I lost it there. Anyway, good for all who like to play, especially for those on the east coast. Should be fun times ahead.

Can you check on BF Tracks for the new server stats? They don't appear to be updating regularly. Also, the http://ea117dcfanfavorites.blogspot.com site still references the old server address. Thanks!

I checked this morning and they seem to be tracking it properly - they show me on the new IP as of yesterday.
