SA3 Video
OK guys, this is my last one.
A short vid on using the SA3.
Enjoy.
P.S. It would be nice if a few of you could put together short training vids on stuff you're good at, like bombing, etc.

Re: SA3 Video
I've used the SA3 to kill arty as well, especially on DesertShield. It takes 2-3 hits on the scud and howitzer detonating the cluster(shotgun) just before impact. This is if it is in main and you are gliding in as well....and also assuming you don't get kicked for people complaining that you are camping!
HI! I love you!

Re: SA3 Video
OTH,
Go into the game options and set your minimap for no opacity. The downside is you don't see any terrain features on the map or bridges, and you don't see the map grid so if someone says "T72 in C3" you have no idea what they're talking about. To get around this I have memorized most of the outpoast names on maps I play a lot, but I find myself in the minority when I yell out that there is a Hind at Gabr Saleh or a Bradley at Dabir.

Re: SA3 Video
Good stuff again fellas ... I had no idea you could kill a plane/helo from that far away ... No wonder i was doing so bad .. I was trying to get REALLY close before hitting the primary fire button. Thanks .. i will try my hand at the SA3 again soon. Unless of course there is someone that is better than me waiting for it LOLOLOL ...thats most people that play.

Re: SA3 Video
I believe the SA3 is a greatly under-utilized tool by most players. Lots of times I come into El Al halfway through a round and they're both sitting empty.
The only difference between the SA3s and the Patriots (like on First Light) is that the Patriots are ALL guided, they reload MUCH more quickly, and the shotgun fire part is the opposite button (right click vs. left click on the SA3).
Also, both the SA3 and the Ptriot in DC Final lose health over time, so there is a distracting red flash to contend with as you fly (it used to mean you were getting killed back "home), and the rocket will eventually flare out and die. They do glide a lot farther though I think.

Re: SA3 Video
Lol I noticed that today ... I kept launching the guided missle then a second later I am thinkin I am getting shot by the enemy. Then I freaked and thought "Well damn do I go ahead and detonate the guided and go back to try and defend with the dumb rockets. But after it happened again shortly after launch I looked down and noticed my health was still full. I think on maps where there are 2 SA3's if you have two skilled people in each one the other team might as well stay grounded. I will keep practicing because I am not one of the skilled.

Re: SA3 Video
I find it the easiest to fly with a joystick.

Re: SA3 Video
I fly planes and helos with a joystick but I use the mouse to fly the SA3. In fact, I would even take my hand off the keyboard to fly the SA3 since you don't have to manage acceleration.
Lots of times I roll it over onto its side to fly it (roll to the side you are going to turn towards, if that makes sense), especially when hunting tanks or banking. It's a lot easier to pull up to turn than down or side to side with the mouse. If you watch the video you'll see how I roll it. I don't even think about it anymore; I'm not even completely sure I knew I was doing it

Re: SA3 Video
Swanny it worked ... I got my first kills in the SA3 that werent what I call luck. Helos, planes including the 130. Now I have not taken out and armor bit that will come later. So you don't use the keyboard at all ??? Even for small rudder adjustments ... I know technically SA3's don't have rudders BUT I think in the game programming they gave them the same flight controls as planes. That may be part of my problem ... I use the rudder ALL the time when flying the SA3.

Re: SA3 Video
Remember that you can use MOUSELOOK also when "flying" SA3, I find it useful. I am right-handed but I use mouse with my left hand and joystick with my right. Works good for me.
You can try using EXTERNAL VIEWs on SA3 guided missile, I have no experience on that so I dont know if it gives any advantage.
Tip: Pressing INSIDE after firing(not launching) guided missile you get faster the basic view of the SA3.
(I dont use MAUSELOOK much when flying planes but in chopper I do. In planes I use mainly EXTERNAL VIEWs)

Re: SA3 Video
Thanks for making the effort here, Swanny! Nice how-tos.
What about some game strategy videos, like which flags are strategic (armor and makes-other-team-bleed sites) and good ways of taking and defending them?
