Distinguishing Admins

Post by Poacher »

Distinguishing Admins

I used to admin on D.O.D (Desert of Doom) server, witch was a very close community just like EA117. One thing that they did on DOD for the admins was the addition of _AOD (admin on duty) at the end of their name to distinguish the admins from everyone else, so for example “Specialist_AOD”, “AIDS_AOD” or “Simon_AOD”. this allowed all the players to know who the admins are. I’ve notice there is always a lot of confusion at the game as to who the admins are, people always asking if there is an admin here.

Poacher, I can see the value in what you're saying, in that if someone is having a hard time they know who to report it to. The problem we see is that the community is small enough that most know who we (admins) are, but all too often what we see is "No admin on, I see? Time to raise some hell!" Coming in without tags means we see who is creating a bad environment for the other players (both regulars and new people).

Thanks for coming by, we're always happy to hear suggestions, even if they aren't always implemented.

I see your points, and you are right Swanny-CG we are a small community. I guess most of the problems are caused by the newcomers; but they dealt with. I've notice that even when the admins are not there the regulars try to guide the newcomers.. I know I've done that plenty of time. Thanks for the reply guys

Poacher ... funny you have said that as Swanny and I have had for the most part the same conversation only I was talking about the name changing. There are two sides two it as I was pointing out the deterence side of knowing an admin is on but as Swanny stated we have had regulars act up and the only way to catch them is to let them think no admin is on. So with that being said I have no longer complained about the name changing thing   Aint that right Swanny   :P :P :P

Poacher glad to see you on the forum ... Please do not use that PK on bridge again as you really screwed up my gameplay yesterday.

Ummm I don't know if I would have admitted that part about me killing you. I am sure that must have been a low poin in your life to point that out lolol .... I have my good and bad days and my good days are not because of skill ... normally just a steady ping and a lot of luck.

I do have to say one thing .... "I usually go blue, but I've been trying out Red for a change." ..... I get it that people may want a certain gun/plane/tank/helo but please don't teamswitch. We have enough people doing that as it is. Even some admins, so it is hard to enforce unless you go with the "do as I say not as I do" rule but it is getting annoying to see teams stacked because of all the switching going on and then I get switched when I joined and let the server put me where it needs me. This is not a complaint towards you just a freindly request to ..well everyone.

I get your point about team switching thing, it does get hard to play when at the start of the game one team is 20 and the other 6. I guess I should have been more clear about the red and blue thing.. I don't care if I'm red but when I'm red I only used the Ak before, now I'm experimenting with all the guns and I think i like the PK too.
