Data differs from server
Hi everyone,
Can you tell me if the error message "Data differs from server" is a PB related problem? Posts elsewhere seem to differ on this.
The short of it is, I changed out a failing HD and had to do a fresh install and can't get back online!
Sufferiong cold turkey here!

Re: Data differs from server
Do you have all the patch updates for BF1942, DC and Final installed. I think it is 1.61 for BF. 0.7 for DC and then of course just the Final patch.

Re: Data differs from server
Hi,
I first downloaded individual files and installed as per MojoRyder's post "How To: From A Fresh Install" (http://www.ea117dcfanfavorites.com/view ... f=11&t=179 ).
Got the error message "data differs." I uninstalled everything and started all over, this time using FireWire's all in one rar file (http://justskate.me/bfdc2009/). I installed them in this order: 1.6.19 / 1.6-1.61b / DC0.7 / DC final
After that, TankPanzer PB setup
Thanks for the help!

I can't remember anymore - is 1.6.19 the default/base version?

I don't know, but the order given was "battlefield_1942_patch_v1.6.19" followed by "battlefield_1942_incremental_patch_v1.6_to_v1.61b"

Looking at this:
I'm not sure where the 1.6.19 comes from? Is that the 1.6 full patch? I wonder if you installed something then downgraded a component by installing the wrong patch?MOJORyder wrote:Just going to list a quick how to guide with links for people doing a fresh install of BF42.
These steps will bring you current to all patches for BF, DC (DCF) as well as PB and TS. It's advised, if not mandatory, to Dl and install these in order
1: Full Client Patch 1.6
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... atch;23189
2: Update Patch 1.6-> 1.6B
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... 161b;33702
3: Desert Combat 0.7
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... mbat;23423
3a: Desert Combat Final (NOT Mandatory, but you will want this.. ).
http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/ ... load;31620
4: Punk Buster
http://evenbalance.com/index.php?page=s ... bf1942.php
4a: From member Gat who posted this (3/17/2010), it's an update to PB: http://www.tankpanzer.com/downloads/BF4 ... update.exe (be sure to check "Do not create new group" when installing)
After installing the even balance (PB) be sure you UPDATE it (or try to) to ensure you've installed it properly. It's the number one source of headaches for most players.
**EDIT**
FireWire has also hosted all the above files on his server in the event any of the above links are down. You can download them from here: http://justskate.me/bfdc2009/

Yes, 1.6.19 is the full patch before the 1.61b.Swanny-CG wrote:

Muzzle, did you restart your computer after installing 1942 and each patch? I have had issues with fresh installs and not rebooting in between. Files are 'sometimes' not put into their proper place until a reboot is done. Worth a shot.

Re: Data differs from server
Ok, I'll do a fresh install. I've got a couple of games. This install was the All-in-one package (including Vnam) so it must be newer. I'll make sure I start the game between installs.
According to Swanny's fresh install paste, I followed the proper order. e.g.,
1: Full Client Patch 1.6 is "battlefield_1942_patch_v1.6.19.exe "
and
2: Update Patch 1.6-> 1.6B is "battlefield_1942_incremental_patch_v1.6_to_v1.61b "
I just started both downloads again to make sure.
So, I'll give her another go!
Thanks for all the help.

Re: Data differs from server
Muzzle ... I did two installs recently one being my own and I don't remember installing the 1.6.19 ... if my memory serves me correct which is scary I just did the 1.6 full and then the 1.61b .... When I get back to my comp I will look and see if I deleted the stuff I downloaded or not and let you know.
