Looks like part of a door knob mechanism, the internal part that turns the other side , one side where the lock goes and the other side that the door knob turns its counterpart.

lol, I had to throw that in Son :D

But in all seriousness, I think we are looking at.... wait for it...did someone mention drilling rigs?... a retrievable mwd pulse stinger battery contact. (yes, I put this to my rig buddies. Alberta is oil and gas country :) )

Hmmm, I pulled alot of batteries out of MWD tools and they never looked like that. Its too short and lacking the hook at the end for the tugger line to attach too. Im still going with a internal door knob assembly (The "L" shaped door knobs not the round ones).

That's what i was thinking too Boon. Seen the tools, never seen this. Gonna drill them (pun intended :D ) on this, just been emailing so far. Thinking this may be for EM pulse tools running oriented gamma. But I'm pretty sure the square on the shaft rules that out. And the diameter is too small i believe.

Damn newfangled door knobs. :P

If this is part of a doorknob I am gonna be pissed LOLOLOL. All of this time wasted for a freaking doorknob. I was hoping we were gonna be able to say he found and we figured out some special part to the Death Star or something. Ok maybe its the internals to a doorknob ON the Death Star. :D

I will add I do not think it is a doorknob piece as the L shaped ones have the same internals as a round one. Only difference is the handle. Plus that would be one thick ass door.

Are the doors on the Death Star thick??????

no for door handle assembly unless someone want a highly polished part out of view inside a door... is there a slight groove going down the shaft after the square section sarge?

Sarge any word? And just out of curiosity what are the dimensions?

Also, where ever this was found, was there any kind of work/construction being done in the general area or was it found near the road where it could have fallen off of a truck? Was it found out in the middle of a field or near some piece of equipment, telephone pole, building?

I know I never talk on here but I was reading this and this is gonna sound gross but is this something used to inseminate large animals, cows, horses? I know that it can be done by hand... but maybe someone made something because they got tired of shoving their hands up animals' arses. xD

Was a good thought but Whirly is correct. What they use to artificially inseminate a cow is much like a long metal straw. ( quiet Sarge) I wont go into depth (no pun intended) but it is not long enough nor hollow to hold the fluid.
