Holy crap, have I missed a lot or what? Hopefully after a 6 month hiatus from BF3, my skill level might end up low enough to join Boon's server? I loved everything you said, Mike. I felt extremely welcomed when I joined the server for the first time, and remember your reaching out as well as everyone else.
Somewhere we got sidetracked, but I was fortunately (or unfortunately, since I can't provide much insight) not present for the downfall of the server at the end. I didn't get this vibe from everyone on the DC side, but certainly noticed some of the new vs. old members divide. I don't think any of the divide was intentional or misplaced at first, as 117 vets from DC wanted to play with their long time friends, and weren't familiar with some of us -- at times more rowdy --newer members. The vets would play on non-117 servers in their own TS channel while we were trying to get the 117 server going. I never understood the rift and didn't think much of it, but maybe there was something to it?
One problem I'm sure did not help at all, was the fact that some of the DC veterans came into BF3 after 6 months, even a year after the game was launched. With that much time, it no doubt created a great learning curve making the jump with everyone else having so much time and experience with the new game.
BF4 will give everyone a fresh new start. We can learn from the mistakes of BF3 (and hopefully DICE has as well), and we can all start on equal footing. There shouldn't be any divide between old and new, as we can all add something to the community. I hate seeing the forum like this because I remember a time when we all were at least more friendly and cordial, and any differences were simply superficial. Deep down, we are all here for the same thing: to have fun playing games that we enjoy together. Scramble teams if necessary, keep stacking from occurring, and everything else. But let's not forget the whole point of this thing: fun!
I look forward to playing with you guys soon. I move into the new place next weekend so I can't wait to find you all on Teamspeak in May!
