Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
Re: Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
not sent my rifle away yet but it will be sent away when i get home. im going to get the supressor fitted that we talked about and have a full trigger job done its going to cost about $600 nz which isnt bad at all. hopefully it will reduce kick by 2/3's and sound to that of a .22 magnum rifle. really excited. heres a better picture of my rifle for yas

Re: Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
Looks great man. You reload? Saves so much money. Especially with a Magnum round. It's awesome that you can get a suppressor without jumping through hoops like you would have to here in the States. What are you doing to the trigger, just lightening it? Will the suppressor be removable?Whirly wrote:not sent my rifle away yet but it will be sent away when i get home. im going to get the supressor fitted that we talked about and have a full trigger job done its going to cost about $600 nz which isnt bad at all. hopefully it will reduce kick by 2/3's and sound to that of a .22 magnum rifle. really excited. heres a better picture of my rifle for yas
On another note, I'd really like to hear/see more input from other gun enthusiasts but it seems they're not interested in sharing their collections.
Re: Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
Hmmmm, I prefer a naughtier way other than guns... like the licorice-whips that Nighty posted. However, here is what is in my collection:
Oh, and btw... Somehow Sarge inadvertently sent me a pic of himself, without a bandana showing off his covert gun and pistachios, which was supposed to be sent to his Pikachu - TDog ...

Re: Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
As you will know on any mass produced weapon they have been machines to precise measurements but are still rough, so im getting the trigger lightened with a shorter take up also, im also getting the mchining marks polished out so the pull will not feel jerky but feel real smooth like sliding out a glass rod i cant bloody wait.. as for the supressor its fully removable. what i will do when i finally get it sent awa and returned ill do a few, different vids, showing from the front, down range and behind the rifle with the supressor on and of etc to show the sound differences, deflection from tree sound difference and the kick difference..
man im excited and cant wait.
as for the reloads ive not done my own but my friend is willing to show me how he done these for me i should do some close ups of therm also

Sounds great kiwi, buffing out those machining marks will be huge. I've seen it done and felt the difference, night and day. And sick news on the suppressor. I cannot wait to see your future vids.Whirly wrote:As you will know on any mass produced weapon they have been machines to precise measurements but are still rough, so im getting the trigger lightened with a shorter take up also, im also getting the mchining marks polished out so the pull will not feel jerky but feel real smooth like sliding out a glass rod i cant bloody wait.. as for the supressor its fully removable. what i will do when i finally get it sent awa and returned ill do a few, different vids, showing from the front, down range and behind the rifle with the supressor on and of etc to show the sound differences, deflection from tree sound difference and the kick difference..

As for the reloading, it really is pretty simple. Especially if you have one of those all-in-one stations. The pros though have a big long desk with each individual machine. Precision is key. You need to first remove the spent primer, reinsert a new one, easy... Then re-neck the casing, measure the powder and put it in, then force the bullet down on the neck to an exact length pre-determined for the caliber and load(powder).
I have a Dillon all-in-one station for its compact nature and ease of use. Its 4 stations one removed the primer and puts a new one in in two 'pulls' of the handle. The next station renecks the casing with another handle pull. You rotate the casing to the next station and with another pull of the handle, it pours in the powder from a hopper with a slot for the amount of powder wanted. After that's done you force the bullet down on the casing with another pull of the handle. The best part is you can change out the dyes for all sorts of calibers, even pistol and shotgun.

Re: Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
Hmmm, I'm going to have to contribute to this at some point. I've just added a few to my collection. I'll need to take another obligatory "tailgate full of guns" picture.
Here's some gun porn to tide you over. This is my KISS rifle.
It's a franken gun because it uses parts from different generations. It uses the newer technologies, but looks like the old A1 variant used during the vietnam era.
Butt Stock is A2 - only difference from A1 is that it's longer
Grip is A2 - only difference from A1 is the little nub between second and middle finger
Receiver is an A3 or "flat top" receiver - main difference from A1 is it doesn't have integrated carry handle. I added a "screw on" A1 style carry handle and rear sight. There are other differences in the receiver, but that is the noticeable one, along with the A3 having the "forward assist" bolt plunger on the right to ram dirty rounds into the chamber... or force the bolt closed when something is causing it to bind.
Handguards are A1 - These are actual military issue A1 style handguards from the 1960s. The originals had 20 inch barrels and "rifle length" gas system. I have a 16" barrel with mid-length gas system. So, these handguards are cut down.
Front Sight Base - A1
Flash hider / muzzle device - A2 birdcage
It's been fun owning a "throwback" style AR. It looks really neat to me. But, unfortunately, the handguards are not practical. So, I'm going with a full on A3 style conversion soon. I'm going with a low profile gas block, free float handguards, some flip up, backup iron sights, and will replace the carry handle with optics. Probably an ACOG.
Enjoy.

Re: Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
I own a K98 Mauser orginal, restored in germany about 10 years ago.
Mostly wood restoration, and a few minor fixes. The pipe was almost as new when I got it, so it haven't been used much. I inherited after my grandfather, who was involved with the Danish resistance in WWII.
I've shot around 50 round with it so far, not much ... I know, but I intend to shoot more
Because of a recent change in law, I'm having it stored in a facility. I need to buy and install new gun cabinet, that goes from floor to ceiling, have it approved before being allowed to stored it at home.
*It comes with a Scope, but I took it off as I wanted to fix the front glass. (scratch).
This is how it looks with the scope attached - Different rifle*

Very nice weapon. Nice and heavy, right? Lol. I had a chance when I was a kid shoot a Mauser I can't remember the model, but it fired the 9x57mm round. I took out half a telephone pole. My dad said that's enough...BTW on my mothers side ( Mauser) it was one of her great grandpa's that made those fire sticks.
Send it to me. I'll have her sign it for you.

If that gun is a true original and not a bastardized Russian version, you have a fairly valuable piece.
Did those not come in many different calibers? The action on that gun is what many modern rifles are modeled after.
If you do not trust Sarge Opie, just send it to me and I will hand carry it to him and bring it back. Signed of course
Now I am going to have go watch Enemy at the Gates while cleaning my Mosin. LOLOL

Re: Gun Thread: Anyone have any real weapons?
Naa it's not too heavy, but heavier than simliar rifles I know of. It's predecessor Karabiner 98b was abit lighter, but the K98 was an upgrade boltaction - So obviously a bit heavier.Sarge 1/68th Armor wrote:Very nice weapon. Nice and heavy, right? Lol. This one uses a 7.92 x 57 (8 mm round), and have been authenticated to be a real orginal. All the K98 line was numbered unique, and the parts numbered individually. All of which matches.
The orginal swastika was removed during the restoration in germany, but there is still the nazi bird left on the side. Last time it was valued was 7 years ago, and price set was around 12.000 kr (2.200 USD)
Specs:
Cartridge: 7.92 x 57 mm (8 mm Mauser)
Capacity: 5-round stripper clip inserted into internal magazine
Muzzle Velocity: 760 m/sec
Effective Range: 547 yards, 875 yards with optics
Weight: 8-9 lbs.
Length: 43.7 in.
Barrel Length: 23.6 in.
Attachments: Knife Bayonet S84/98, rifle grenades
I'm still looking for an orginal knife bayonet!
Cool story with the granny, I'd love to have it signed. However I've seen the number of guns you have, and I dare not set foot on your property sir! Haha

Lol. I always wondered why we don't get visitors anymore. That is really nice having that history behind it. Same the Swastika was removed. I'm doing more research on my SKS. It has the spike bayonet used for paratroopers. I'm in search for the M1 for my dad. He's turning 90 soon. It be a hoot to present arms one more time.
Take a look at these. Some are German made.

Nice! Thank you. Imagine being stabbed with one of those.. yikes!
Looks like the orginal, and fit for Mauser. I need to get in touch with them before buying, wanna make sure before ordering overseas. I have to pay import tax, which is almost the double of the amount lol...
Oh would be nice to present that to him, I hope you succeed!
I will keep an eye out for ya.
Which one in particular are you lookin for?
Also be sure you see the tutorial on how to handle the M1 haha..
You don't wanna snap your thumb!!

I also want one of these: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/0 ... bin-rifle/
I love a good old bolt-action. That said, I also love my Little Modern Tactical Bastard Rifle That I Never Even Shoot...or AR for short.
Stag Model 3, 5.56, with Magpul MBUS, Bushnell TRS-25 Red dot (A GREAT Red dot that only runs about $90) on a Leapers riser, Leapers combo foregrip/flashlight, Leapers light/laser combo.
My fave has to be my Dad's old Belgian made copy of a Browning Auto-5.
Pictured below it is his dads old Browning Sweet Sixteen... One of the biggest regrets of my life is letting that gun go When my Dad passed away 6mths back, his brother caught me at a weak moment and I stupidly let him have it. I'll never see that beautiful work of art again.

First thing first ... learn to crop your toes out of your gun pics. It really screws up the picture.
Next, you gotta love an A5. That is my dads dove field gun. I do not think that thing has ever let him down.
What is up with the zip tie on the trigger of the lower shotgun?

I knew I should've painted my toenails camo...
Zip tie was there cause we had just got it back from a gun show in Houston trying to get it appraised (Dad wanted to sell it when his lung disease was getting worse, I successfully talked him out of it). I was too lazy to take it off before I snapped the pic.
He wanted to sell it for $900. So I got on gunbroker.com and found the most expensive ones to show him and convinced him he wouldn't get his money out of it and we kept it lol. Mission complete!
