Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
I take it that on minimum specs, it'll look similar to this, yes?
Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
So it recommends the 7870 and 3GB of video memory, but I only see 2GB 7870 cards. What gives?

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
You're right! I only see 2GB 7070s when I do a search. You'll be good to go with the 2GB version but if you really want a 3 GB card then spend a little extra and get the 7950.

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
So it looks like I will finally squeeze off enough cash to build a computer.
I am unfortunately on a budget, but I wouldn't mind some feedback on the parts im looking at. I have never built a comp before, so this will be a first. It looks to me that these will be ok for battlefield 4, but some of the stuff I don't fully understand. Feel free to bad mouth any of the parts listed if they really do stink. I'm not very familiar with what brands are good or bad. I have received some advice on this. I was steered towards these products, but I would like some outside opinions as well.
So heres what I'm looking at:
COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN3-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0 and Black Interior ( part of the reason I chose this is that it comes with a cooler master 650w power supply )
COOLER MASTER GX Series RS650-ACAAD3-US 650W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990X SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
XFX Double D FX797ATDJC Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-bit DDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card
AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor FD8350FRHKBOX
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GXM
Seagate ST2000DX001 2TB MLC/8GB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 3.5" Desktop Solid State Hybrid Drive
SAMSUNG DVD Burner SATA Model SH-224DB/RSBSItem
So that's it I think. Hope I didn't leave anything out.
I have a monitor, mouse , and keyboard so I can wait to upgrade those. I have access to a cheap copy of win 7 that I hope will run BF4??? If not I will fork over a little more for win 8.
Looking forward to your opinions
Thanks.

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
If any game requires Win 8, I will not play it ... I hate that OS.

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
You can play on BF4 on Win 7 just fine so I wouldn't worry about upgrading to Win 8 unless you really want to.
As for your comp parts, it looks like a good build. What's the build total?

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
It's costing me just over a grand. Should have it together by the end of October.
The budget has forced me to piece this together. I have some of the stuff purchased, just couldn't get it all at once.

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
Looks good to me. Lots of people are using the 660ti and getting good frame rates in BF3 and the specs of the 7970 are higher. I haven't built an AMD system in a long time but that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with them. They use more watts, so they run a little hotter. Your case specs show that it comes with 2 200mm fans and 1 120mm so I wouldn't expect you to have any issues. Catch me in TS and I'll give you my number if you have any questions during assembly you can call me.

Also Colonel is a big fan of the AMD processors. I am sure if you have any questions/concerns you can hit him up to help along the way.

Nightstalker has no faith in my tech support...lol. On a side note I found a very open design case for under 100 dollars. Airflow should be amazing!

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
Interestingly enough Windows 8 is just a little bit faster than 7 for BF3. Not enough that I think you would notice it though. I expect similar results from BF4.

Re: BF4 PC System Requirements
Yeah, interesting. That's probably the small bump from the CPU and card memory that's left over after not having to maintain Aero visual styles or transparency any more.OREX wrote:Interestingly enough Windows 8 is just a little bit faster than 7 for BF3. Be interested to see what the Windows 8.1 performance comparison is. I'm getting very bad results on Battlefield 1942 with Windows 8.1 as compared to Windows 7 SP1, and will be interesting to see whether its just me. Did not have issues with Battlefield 1942 on Windows 8 in regard to performance.

Lolol... I did not mean make it that obvious
I bet if I put my oscillating fan by that I could run BF4 with no heat issues.
