So the GF got me some new hardware for my birthday and with these upgrades I think I'll be able to run BF4 at decent settings.
She got me a EVGA GeForce 660 Ti FTW LE 2GB card and a Samsung 840 series 120 GB SSD. I installed the OS and loaded BF3 onto the SSD and that thing is pretty freaking fast.
I joined a packed 64 player server and played a round on ultra at 1920x1080 and my fps didn't drop below 55.
Here are my current specs.
Alienware X51
i7-3770
16GB Ram
2GB EVGA GeForce 660 Ti FTW LE
2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
120GB Samsung 840 SSD

Re: Ready for BF4
Is the SSD a pretty big deal in game? Or just helps during loading maps at the start of rounds or what?

Re: Ready for BF4
I don't think it helps you that much in game but it does load everything super fast. I can boot up in about 15-20 secs and load times for BF3 are about 15 secs for the vanilla maps.Hav3n wrote:Is the SSD a pretty big deal in game? Or just helps during loading maps at the start of rounds or what?
Re: Ready for BF4
nice gear spec.
I've pre-ordered my copy of bf4, and will be using the alienware box I picked up for the bf3 launch.
still need to figure out the dc install on the win side
