Anybody on here with map modding experience?

Post by BlinkofanEye »

I want to make an Al Nas mod with machine gun helos. I'm new to this. I've installed both ED1942 and Battlecraft but am having trouble compiling all the necessary files to edit Al Nas. Anybody able to help me along?
thanks

Are you talking about Server-Side Modding (SSM) or Client-Side Modding (CSM)?
All of the files you will need are in your install of BF

There is a good tutorial on setting up ED1942; same with Battlecraft...google is your friend as well

You're going to need winRFA to extract/pack your files

Here is a link to basic modding tutorials to get you started.

Good luck

Does a client-side mod mean they have to download a new map to play it?

A CSM would be a mod that you could play on your own machine.
In order for it to be played on a public server, such as EA117, everyone who wanted to play it would have to download your "Patch", or mod, onto their
personal machine.

This would be true as well if you were to host a game on your own machine where a few friends might join. They would have to download your patch.
