Just a heads-up that we are going to be testing
a temporary Al Nas CTF map change for the next couple days.
a temporary Al Nas CTF map change for the next couple days.
Back around the beginning of May 2019, there were several reports that the weapon damage appeared to have been changed. For example, damage from sniper rifles was less than before, and in some cases even M16 or AK47 fire took "too long" to kill someone now.
There have been zero configuration and/or map changes
intended to affect the weapon damage.
None. Nada. Zero.
intended to affect the weapon damage.
None. Nada. Zero.
However, we were actually testing an Al Nas CTF map change around the beginning of May 2019, and so there were some logical assumptions that "those changes must have done it."
But we have long since then backed out those changes, and A/B tested them multiple times, and the presence or absence of those latest Al Nas CTF map changes do not prevent the weapon damage observations from continuing to be reported. We have also been able to confirm by binary file comparison that none of the configuration or other static object files for the game have changed intentionally or unintentionally, too.
What we're going to test now is backing off Al Nas changes all the way back
to before the weapon walls and health lockers were added to the Allied and Axis mains.
Which was a change made a couple months before these reports even started being made.

Which was a change made a couple months before these reports even started being made.
So when you find the weapon walls missing for the next couple days, this is why. It is one of many steps and tests we have been performing, in the ongoing effort to identify why exactly the weapon damage reports started being made, and why now.
Thanks for your patience while we eliminate all the variables we have control over.
