EA117 Desert Combat server has moved

Post by Trench »

Just repeating the same announcement which is also currently on the front page of the web site:

As of August 26, 2020,
the "EA117.com/access to connect"
Desert Combat server has moved.

The server IP address is now:
51.81.48.241 port 14567

For information on what you need to do in response to this, please see the EA117 Desert Combat Server has moved announcement in the server status forum.

But feel free to discuss and ask for help right here in this discussion thread.

One additional detail:

Anyone currently still attempting to connect the previous Texas or Ohio server IP addresses will be routed/proxied through to the new server. Meaning, anyone who has not updated their server list and verified they are using the new server IP address will still be able to join and play on the same server as the rest of us, and we are not "split between the old and the new server."

However, this also means "I can still connect successfully" does not mean that you don't still need to take further action.

Because eventually, those previous Texas and Ohio server IP addresses are going to stop forwarding people. And, if either of the old server addresses continue to be attacked, anyone who is depending on being routed/proxied through from the old server address is still going to get disconnected. Only by updating your server list so that you are connecting directly to the new server IP address will you eliminate those dependencies and potential future issues.

Thanks again for everyone's patience during all of the recent interruptions, due to the attacks going on against the remaining Battlefield 1942 servers.

Sarge, why don’t you hop in and play with us sometime? I don’t remember you too much, as I was probably 10 or so when you were a regular player here. But with our population dying it’d be nice to have some of the oldies come back and play again.

Hey everyone, thanks to all of you who updated and started hitting the new server. Unfortunately, as you're probably already aware, that new server came under attack as well, and disconnects from the game server were still happening.

Once again, as of today (August 30, 2020), there is a new EA117 server IP address to use.

You must update your in-game Multiplayer server list and use the new EA117 server IP address,

even if you had already updated to the earlier new server address.

If you are still hitting either of the old server addresses, you are still going to be able to connect to the game successfully. But if those previous server addresses continue to be attacked, you'll continue to get disconnected from the game, even if others are still playing successfully on the new server. So be sure and update to the current EA117 server address, before assuming that anyone except yourself is getting disconnected from the server by an attack.

The Ohio server is shutting down this week.

If you haven't already done it, be sure to
update your in-game Multiplayer server list,
or update whatever method you're using to join the server,
so that you are connecting to the current 51.81.48.241 server address.

The Texas server will be shutting down soon, too.
Continuing to use the previous Texas 47.x.x.x address gives you a worse ping,
and will stop working soon.

It's been a month now, so we are going to begin the steps of shutting down the old Texas server.

So be on the lookout for anyone you think might still need help making the transition.
We've been letting everyone know in-game when they were still using the old Texas address,
and for the most part everyone has updated.

But if you haven't already done it, be sure to
update your in-game Multiplayer server list,
or update whatever method you're using to join the server,
so that you are connecting to the current 51.81.48.241 server address.

Starting this week, anyone who continues to connect to
the old Texas server address is going to encounter a server named
    "EA117 - Update to 51.81.48.241"
    running at that address.

And the game server will be in a "Paused" mode
such that you can no longer actually play there.
