Windows 7 64 Bit Drop in FPS / Lag Issues

After installing Windows 7 I have been experiencing random drops in FPS while playing BF 1942. When I start the game I can usually play in the round at 100FPS however, after about 20min the game will drop to 10 or less FPS per second making it impossible to play. This doesnt happen on any other game I play. I am able to play COD, BF2, etc for hours on high and not have this "lag/fps drop glitch". Does anyone know what might be causing this of have a solution?
