Bombing the SA3

Post by Specialist »

Hi All,

I just made a short video of what I normally do when doing a bombing run on sa3s. I'm sure there a people that do it different ways but this works for me.

I'd like to see something on *when* to drop the bombs, as I generally miss by quite a bit. "As you pull up," I tend to overshoot.

I've seen OTH dip out of the clouds just long enough to be seen and disappear, and take out both red SA3s in one pass. Seriously, the guy barely dips out of the fog.

I'll get some in-game footage next time i'm bombing.

I can drop it from pretty high up myself but I've never taken out both on 1 dive.

I too would like to see at what point you decide to hit the button .... Dive bombing I understand but what about level flight. I know this may not be the preferred tactic for bombing but if you have multiple targets I would think it would be much better to do a carpet bomb style than a dive then climb then dive then climb for each one. Also ... and not to take away Spec but can you give us some vid in the SU or the A10 without clusters ... I am decent with clusters but SUCK at the dumb bombs.

I am sure everyone has seen this .. which this guy OBVIOUSLY has it down on taking out both SA's in the blue base

Yeah, i'll try to get some in game footage.

When bombing during a level flight, try to release the bomb about 3 seconds before you reach your intended target.

Wouldn't that depend on your altitude?

Lies....

Your correct Swanny, it does depend on your altitude.

I now see how the clear mini-map is quite useful for bombing. Getting lined up on the dark area (target) is right in your line of sight as compared to moving your eyes to corner of screen to line up and lose your awareness of your altitude.

I was going to make a video of how to shoot spec in A-10 with a T-72..but I can never keep it on top of the hind long enough. Seriously though spec has killed me in tank hundreds of times..80-90% of the time I never heard the A-10's engines at all..I just went boom....and I have shot down more than a few planes from the ground on El Al so I am VERY aware of what is going on in the sky that map.

I plan to practice pulling up before dropping load. Thanks spec. ;)

I want to say Thank you spec...I actually now 100% forgive you for punishing me in tank while you flew the A-10 during all those El Alamien battles.

I learned more from that video than I did ever trying to fly and learn. I just made 7 clean kills during canal using about 10 bombs in A-10 during my first flight up. 8-) I watched you do flips before to get steep runs and practiced it during no fly...but that timing...that is where it's at.

That plane just got sexier in DC for me. ;)

And I want to see it without clusters ... no offense but clusters are to bombs what the 50 is to the sniper rifle. Greater margin of error. Which is why I like the 50 and clusters

I use FRAPS and have to mess with my mic settings so I can hear myself talk. Then I turn down the in-game volume, save the vid and post to youtube after any conversions I need to do to reduce file size.

If you want to give it a shot let me know.

I just recorded the gamplay using FRAPS, then I used sound recorder (standard on windows) to record the voice over and then I just added it to the movie with Windows Movie Maker and uploaded to YouTube directly from there.

If I uploaded directly to YouTube, it would of taken maybe 10 mins to upload, with Movie Maker it took at most 1 minute.
