really though, it's a decent car. I can't honestly say I'd pay $50 large for a Stang...but some people will and thats all that matters :)

Well ignoring the fact the Ford, GM and Dodge all run 355CI V-8's based off of the original 426 HEMI from Chrysler...

NASCAR is a joke..no more, no less. It has strayed so far beyond what it was "North American Stock Car...." that it is not even funny.
It's a pathetic money making operation and nothing more. It is only supported by the manufacturers via money and license to use a name.
Find me one similairty aside from name from the NASCAR version to the street version. You can't..and that is sad.

roughly..ohh, 15 yrs ago, Chrysler adopted a new racing league called NATCC (North American Touring Car Championship. Based wholely on the European touring car championship...it was a GRAND race series! Only miner modifications were allowed to the vehicles and nothing on the top end of the motor. Hel, teh cars had to be dealer purchased even.

Dodge, Honda, Ford, Toyota, Volvo..etc etc etc all competed. It was an amazing series of real men racing real cars with real factory support in getting these cars tuned properly.

Sadly, I think those days are gone forever...After Chrysler pulled it's sponsorship of the NATCC (thinking it would survive on it's own), the series passed away quickly.

Now, we're stuck with Le Mans in Europe and the European tourcing car champs. Fine and well, but why can't we have our own series? Why do we have to have 55 cars circling a track...people cheering one sticker over another?

It's just fucking stupid.

ya, this wasn't an indictment against Fjord, Aids...moreso against the NASCAR selling itself out.

I think the Euroe champs are nearly the same as the NATCC was...

Lower end work was OK ONLY so long as it was to ensure endurance for the engine
NO upper engine work
Exhaust modifications (including disabling the cat) was allowed
Suspension lowering of no more than 2 inches, so long as it remained street legal height, was allowsd.
Brakes were limited to cross drilled rotors and heavy duty pads/racing pads.
Roll cage
eliminating non-essential interior components (e.g. passenger and rear seats and assecories. DASH kept in place). removal of airbags.
saftey glass all around
fuel cell

and that, essentially made up a NATCC and (I bleieve) Euroe car racer.
How does it not get better than that? Where/when it is truly manufacturer AND driver vs. the others. Not sticker vs sticker. (e.g. NASCAR today)

well all engines used in nascar r of different makes. yes they have 2 be the same 2 be equal. there all supose 2 be equal horsepower. in which toyota had 2 have increase just cuz they couldnt keep up. i mean yea there not street legal. but almost every motor part pretty much is. well for carborated motors newayz.
