Bugger ... game wont load ?

Hey any help would be great, it worked ok this mornin an this arvo it wont even load

It comes up with the Bf1942 logo screen, then just goes blak as tho gettin ready but nuffin happens, just stay's blak no music or pic ...
I can still play other games just no BF

I have run virus scans that come up ok, apart from that i have no idea. I did have a problem with the keyboard G15, but i went to Logitech site an downloaded all the new drivers, an also went to Nvidia an did the same for me video card. This was something else i thought mite help.
I have to use cntrl/alt/del to go bak to desktop, that just comes up an say's program not responding.
Ahh an yes i have also restored to earlier time to see if that did anything (a week ago)

So if anybody could please offer me any advise or help would be greatly appreciated

Did you download the video drivers before or after the game started acting up?

Hey m8 i downloaded the drivers after the game started actin up, this was an option i was tryin to see if would fix.
Another thing i forgot to mention is that the game wont load to desktop, without goin online.

There hasn't bin any new programs or downloads recently, just the windows update

For general info, Win XP the o/s i run. :|

Have you disabled the intro videos?

Is your refresh rate set to standard in your video card settings?

Have you set renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1 in VideoDefault.con?

Yea have try'd those refresh rate thing's, an yea the google answers that have looked at sorta started to confuse ...

Not real pooter savy, so try an keep it basic. Mite have to just reload an try that

Hopefully it will work ok then ...

Yeah I'd uninstall/reinstall the game first, when you say reload I hope you mean that and not the whole OS unless you're seeing other issues -

Ok then, have try'd reloadin game changin the video refresh thingy ... an still just loads to the startup black screen an stalls

Wen push ctrl,alt,del it just say's not responding ? Same as before ...

Umm wat else has any-1 try'd, am really gettin desperate. Btw that is to desktop aswell ...

Have bin scrollin threw them answers on google but nufffin has worked so far an the reload was gunna fix it ...

Plz has any-1 heard of or found an easy fix, not bein real pooter savy makes stuff sound more difficult sometimes, wen readin from the net ... lol

Yea m8 have done, 1st time an 2nd time earlier

There are gremlins at work ere ...

Wen all this started nuffin had bin changed, an no downloads. Have run all virus scans an they comeup clean also.
Will just go threw an try stuff again an see wat happens.

Somethin has to work surely, short of system reboot not real sure wat ... ???

What kind of video card do you have and what is the current driver that you have installed on your computer?

Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT, was updated 7/1/2011, version 6.14.12.6658. An it say's workin correctly ...

Ok ... well after much loadin an reloadin it's just not gunna work ...

Seems to be some sorta software conflict, cause there are couple other problems, can't explain but real pissoff ...

Have re-run all vrus scans, an they still cum up clean ...

Missin the sandbox terribly, but look's as tho only way gunna get to work is by formattin

At least can keep up wiff the gossip on the forum ...

Hope to be bak soon ...

Just for S & G's as I doubt a virus is your problem though not impossible have you run your virus scan in safe mode? Seems to catch more that way.

Just an update, try'd a few different fix's an re-loaded the game, this time just reboots the pooter

Still lookin around for sumfin bit better, but still too pricy, will get bak soon tho ...

oldboi, have you updated to the newest driver for the 8600gt? Nvidia has a new update as of 6-1-11.

Also, what OS are you running?

All I can say is persistant feller aintchya. Good for ya. Wish we could come up with a fix but sounds like money is going to be the only fix to this problem ... good luck.

He is running XP Spec

Oldboi ... is your DirectX up to date ??????? and then are you using the "no cd crack" if so try it without it.

Yea m8 runnin XP home edition, an yea have done all the lastest updates as of 3 days ago now ...

As for the no-cd thingy, i try'd it an didn't work

So did a re-install to try without ...

The game did play once on the desktop load, then did updates an stuff an bak to square 1, wouldn't even load to desktop. But it was runnin very choppy an stuff on desktop before updating.
As ya say Nightstalker, think $$$ gunna be only fix. It is about 5 years old, an technology don't last long eh. An it was a shop mass production type machine (Arrow Computers), which had alot of problems wen i 1st got it. Mind it has bin formatted about 3 times ...

An yea Nightstalker, i'm persistant cause really enjoy BF an not playin now for few months has me very edgy

No had BF2 an 2142, but they also started doin the same choppy play so i deleted everything try'n to get 42 runnin. Yea all updates were done including Direct X ...

Just to put things into prospective, i refuse to play anything till BF42 runnin, an that is my mission. Sad hey, all these great games out there an me am hook'd on just this. Not good at it by any means but hey have so much fun, the missus recons i'm mad wen i'm play'n the way i laugh an swear, then try so hard to get even at the enemy ...

Still great to have so much fun as the years roll by ...

Hey bud I hear you, this is still a GREAT game. As for your computer have you taken and reseated all the connections. We fix many things here at work by pulling all the connections off of some board and reseating them. The only thing we can figure out is corrosion builds up in the connection and after pulling and reseating it makes a positive connection. Just a thought and it should take you too long to try. Alot cheaper than buying a new one
