Updated guidelines as of September 2023.

0. Note: some of these downloads will take some time. I recommend downloading in parallel, but you MUST *install* sequentially.

1. If you are on Win10 or Win11, you need to enable DirectPlay:

2. Download and install Battlefield 1942:

BF1942 ZIP: https://team-simple.org/download/Battlefield_1942.zip
How to Install: Unzip the ZIP file, then run bf1942-setup.exe to install.

3. download and install this patch: gamespy

4. Download and install Desert Combat 0.7: https://www.moddb.com/mods/desert-comba ... -combat-07
nb: DC Final requires this installed first.

5. Download and install Desert Combat Final: https://www.moddb.com/mods/desert-comba ... nal-update

6. join the server:
-Open BF1942
-go to Multiplayer
-go to Internet
-hit Update,
-find EA117 and click Join.

7. Optional: Modding: It's not that hard, I promise. If you wish to try your hand at modding, our admin team is receptive to well designed tweaks to the vanilla maps. Note that due to the age of the game and lack of player base, we will not be running any custom maps or anything requiring a patch. Well, it works. One of our returning BOP members used the process in its entirety and was successful.

Agreed, at some point they changed what the download they were offering contained. Whether that corresponded to the URL change or not.

What they have now is essentially "the actual Battlefield 1942 CD/DVD .ISO image" plus a keygen crack. Meaning it's not someone's all in one or alternate installer any more; it's the actual EA-provided disc image now (albeit with very minor differences).

So +1 for authenticity, and -1 for ease of installation.
